As the Media Joins the Low Road Express

My contribution: $
(Proudly cross-posted at Clintonistas for Obama)

How much have you heard so far about Barack Obama & Hillary Clinton supposedly "not getting along"? How much have your heard about the "maverick" McCain? How much total crap have you heard coming out of the media & the McCain campaign so far that you just can't get our of your head?

Well, let me help you get past the garbage & get back to focusing on what matters...

So how do you really feel about McCain's negative campaign & the media's love affair with that kind of nonsense? I think this says it well for me. Take a look.

As I was saying earlier this week, I've had it with this trash. And frankly, I think there are many more Americans like me.

I've had it with the media continually giving McCain a free pass. I've had it with McCain's endless substance-free smear attacks on Barack Obama. I've had it with the media obsessing over rumors about Bill & Hillary Clinton and how they get along with the Obamas instead of... Well, instead of the media doing its job in informing the American people about what Obama & McCain stand for.

So have you had it like I have? Well, then let's do something about it. Hold the media accountable. Tell everyone who John McCain really is. Oh yes, and let's elect some great Democrats who will persue real media reform.

Re: As the Media Joins the Low Road Express (2.00 / 5)

I like that video.  Catchy music too.

Obama has a definite coolness factor when he's mocking the GOP.  He has this smirk, not like Bush's smirk, but a look that suggests he can just barely manage to take them seriously.  It's like he's inviting you to be in on the joke with him.

True... (2.00 / 3)

Obama's able to look cool while not seeming overly cocky. I think his response this week has really made McBush look even more petty & petulant. I'm glad he's finally fighting back. I hope we see more of it all the way to November. :-)

Watch this (2.00 / 5)

Anybody who's been listening to the traditional media talking about how Hillary Clinton has this nefarious plot to stick one to Obama should really watch this:

Okay, now this is what Hillary Clinton is really about. She truly into the unity.

Stop the racism. Fight the smears.

Re: As the Media Joins the Low Road Express (2.00 / 1)

Say what you will about his antics during the primaries, but David Shuster, who now has the hour before early Hardball, doesn't allow too much lying from his Republican guests.  He regularly corrects their "facts" and points out the twisted logic behind their points.

I know he didn't make too many friends from the HRC camp, but it's nice to see someone not simply accepting the talking points as fact.

Shuster is a Clinton hater from way back (none / 0)

He made his name on Fox News reporting on the Whitewater "scandal."  Early in the primaries he subbed for Clinton-hater Ed Schultz and I happened to hear this show.  It was absolutely breath-taking how Shuster slammed Hillary up and down and sideways....I wondered how he could report to his day job on MSNBC after such a verbal assassination.

I never pay the slightest bit of attention to what this hack says because he is a partisan to the core and not a respectable journalist.

Nice diary. (2.00 / 4)

Of course, the MSM has been taking the low road for years. Hillary and Barack just tend to get the worst of it.

Even John McCain lusts after teh engels.

I think that should read: (2.00 / 2)

Normally I'm the first to jump onto... (none / 0)

the corporate media. But when Bill Clinton refuses to say Obama is ready to be president, and Hillary says the convention will be about catharsis for her injured supporters, it's like throwing red meat to hungry wolves.

by Glaurung on Thu Aug 07, 2008 at 10:57:36 PM EST

Huh? (2.00 / 2)

Jake Tapper from ABC News has summed it up pretty clearly:

If Hillary Clinton's name is not placed in nomination it will be

The first Democratic convention without a roll call vote since President Lyndon Johnson ran unopposed for reelection in 1964.

Wouldn't you think that the first female candidate to come so far in the race to presidency would be due this courtesy?

Many in the Obama camp think not, but I think it will be a grave mistake.  If the positions were reversed, do you think Hillary would be justified in denying Obama's name to be placed in nomination?  Hardly.

Re: Don't forget to claim your McCredits! (none / 0)

Don't forget to further antagonize Clinton supporters.  Be sure that they are dissed and shouted down and marginalized.  It's a great way to do the job of the Republicans.

Now please, toddle off and claim your McCain points.

antagonize Clinton supporters (none / 0)

There is no longer any such thing as a "clinton supporter."

Those who claim to be such are really McBush supporters.

So why should anyone care if you're antagonized -- especially when you carry an oversized buffulo chip on your shoulders anyway?

You're doing a great (none / 0)

job for the unity train.  Taunting and name calling is a great way to attract new voters.

But then you already said you don't care...

Re: You're doing a great (none / 0)

I said I don't care about McPumas who are going to vote for McBush anyway.

And an Obamaphobe like you talking about unity is a little much, dontcha think?

Re: Huh? (none / 0)

Thanks for that quote and link. It's funny how concerned peopleare about a roll call vote as though it's not standard operating procedure at the convention. Good to know that I didn't just imagine seeing all of those roll call votes over the years.

Re: As the Media Joins the Low Road Express (none / 0)

Yeah, it's all the media can cling to for any kind of story.  I heard a guy today on MSNBC saying HRC and Bill were going to try to wrangle the spotlight on them to make sure they are still Democratic celebrities or something like that, made it sound nefarious, instead of the point of it : the Clinton's are showing  thier support for Obama and showing unity in the party.  The media is truly reaching.
